*The
test defined in ACR(M)001:2000 is applicable to in-plane
rooflights only: however, if
for comparison the principles of the test were applied
to out-of-plane rooflights, then the classification
obtained would be as shown.
Dome rooflights are out-of-plane and are therefore more
visible which means there is less
chance of the rooflight being walked on accidentally
thus reducing the risk of accidents. |
Mardome rooflights can provide an excellent source
of ventilation. By linking them into 'Building Environment
Management systems' they can help to regulate the temperature
and humidity within the building.
To ensure a pleasant, healthy environment within a building
the relationship between insulation, heating and ventilation
must be correct. Minimum acceptable levels for both
insulation and ventilation are included in parts L and
F of the Building Regulations. Mardome rooflights offer
a number of options giving customers the opportunity
to choose the most appropriate ventilation for their
building. |
Ventilation Dome
Available in both manual and automated opening options,
these unit have a central pole which can be extended
to any length up to a maximum of 3000mm.
The manual option is opened via a worm gear drive operated
from floor level using an extension pole. The electrically
powered alternative includes a small motor operated
from a 240V mains supply and the kit includes a control
switch to open and close the dome. |
Automatic Venting Domes
Typically, this Mardome option functions as part of
a smoke clearance system but it can also be configured
to operate both automatically as part of an environmental
management system (connected to internal temperature
or humidity sensors) or manually (eg. via a wall mounted
switch) to provide natural ventilation. When incorporated
as part of a smoke clearance system the actuator, which
operates on a 24V DC supply, opens the dome to 90°
to facilitate the maximum possible ventilation. Battery
backed power packs are available to maintain the supply
to the actuator in the event of mains power loss.

 |
Ventilation/Access Domes
To gain entry onto the roof either for maintenance purposes
or as an emergency exit the dome is held open at nearly
90º by two telescopic stays. |
 |
Background Ventilation
|
Background ventilation can be achieved by fixing either
the permanent or hit and miss vent adapters onto the
kerb above the waterproofing membrane. |
| These white powder coated aluminium frames have a
4700mm2 ventilation slot which,
when opened, permits a natural air flow in either direction. |
